Lorenzo received his PhD in 2015 at the University of Florence mostly working With Prof. Roberta Sessoli and Prof. Matteo Mannini on the deposition of magnetic molecules on surfaces using surface science techniques and large-scale facilities characterizations. He then moved to the CNRS/University of Bordeaux (tutor: Dr. Mathieu Gonidec,) for two years since 2016, dealing with the study of Spin CrossOver molecules specially studying their integration in devices, developing methods to measure the current through this material varying the temperature achieving milestones in this field. Since the July of 2020, he is Permanent Researcher at the CNR-ICCOM institute in Florence.
