Calculation Facilities

2 HPC clusters are available to our unit.
The first is a homemade cluster with 21 nodes for a total of 94 CPU and 156 Gb of RAM. The cluster has been built in different steps and this is the reason why it presents heterogeneous nodes. Cluster's details are:

·    2 biprocessors nodes Pentium III, 800 Mhz with 768 Mb of RAM per CPU
·    8 biprocessors nodes Ahtlon, 1666MHz with 768 Mb of RAM per CPU
·    2 biprocessors nodes Xeon(HT) dual core, 3000MHz with 1536 Mb of RAM per CPU
·    2 biprocessors nodes Xeon(HT), 3200MHz with 1536 Mb of RAM per CPU
·    6 quadprocessors nodes Opteron 865 DC, 1800 Mhz with 2048 of RAM per CPU
·    1 quadprocessors nodes Opteron 865 DC, 1800 Mhz with 4096 of RAM per CPU

The cluster is working under Linux (Fedora Core 6). The workload is managed by the OpenPBS.

The second Cluster has 24 nodes  for a total 576 cores and 1,8 TB of RAM. In details:
* 23nodes biprocessors AMD Opteron 12-Cores 6234 2,4Ghz with 64 GB
* 1 nodes biprocessors AMD Opteron 12-Cores 6234 2,4Ghz with 256 GB

The cluster is working under Linux (SciLinux 6.1). The workload is managed by the Torque.

The available scientific packages in their parallelized version available for both clusters are:

·    CP2K
·    ORCA
·    LAMMPS
·    Quantum Expresso
·    Gaussian09
