The research activity of Roberta Sessoli has always been at the interface between coordination chemistry and condensed matter physics and focused on the design and characterization of molecular magnetic materials. She has been a pioneer in the field of magnetic bistability and memory effect at the molecular scale in clusters and chains. The research is now focused on the control of quantum effects on the dynamics of the magnetization through chemical design as well as through the interaction with conducting and magnetic substrates. Organization of molecules on surfaces, via self assembly from solution or thermal evaporation in Ultra High Vacuum is the most recent research activity. The research activity of RS includes the use of several characterization techniques as magnetometry, electron paramagnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption.
